HORNSBY SHIRE COUNCIL

Residents of Galston and Glenorie will be aware that under Sydney Water’s current schedule, these areas will remain unsewered until at least 2015. This is unacceptable and Hornsby Shire Council has been lobbying Sydney Water on this issue for some time.

Last year, we undertook an assessment of the water quality in creeks downstream of the Galston and Glenorie residential developments to assist in our understanding of the impacts of unsewered residential properties. We found that current sewage disposal systems are having a detrimental impact on the water quality of these creeks.

The Sydney Coastal Councils Group recently got behind Hornsby Shire Council in supporting our application for Galston and Glenorie to be pushed up the NSW Government Priority Sewerage Scheme as an absolute priority. In this day and age it is unacceptable that homes in Galston and Glenorie do not have sewerage services.

I urge you to contact your local State Member, Judy Hopwood, to ask what she is doing to progress this issue.
